Unconditional democracy for all the voices who are concerned about Iran is what prompted us to put this blog together. Whether a sole individual or an organized group; whether a voice that screams within the borders of Iran or a voice that re-speaks from outside Iran, this blog aims at providing the space for intelligent and free dialogue between us. Us includes all concerned about the political future of Iran, both Iranians and non-Iranians; both those living in Iran and those who live in other countries. Our policy is based on inclusion, promotion of freedom of speech, and promotion of pluralism and democracy

The world has witnessed a surprising yet predictable uproar of dissatisfaction in Iran in the past few weeks. Remarkably, the people of Iran chose the ballot box as the catalyst for wanting democracy, fairness and freedom. This choice is remarkable as it provides a basic framework for the growing democratic demands in Iran to flourish and take root in the society. What people want to achieve through this basic right to democratic elections is open to debate and discussion and that is the wisdom of this movement. The Iranian people are saying in one voice that they want free and fair elections; and, that they want their votes to count in the shaping of their future. This is an important first step, after which step the competing ideas, ideologies, and platforms must be debated and put into fair competition for people to choose their way. In this blog, we provide the space for the dialogue to materialize. We want to allow the voices and the ideas to speak and converse; the discourse to get started. We do not claim that we are the only space provider as the recent movement in Iran has inspired many to do what they can to support and enhance the movement. We only offer to assist also in this sphere with this blog

We disagree with those who argue that certain voices must be quiet in order to keep unity in the Iranian movement; that to support the people of Iran means that all voices must be reduced to the most common denominator. Unity must arise from free choice and exchange of knowledge. Silencing will never produce unity; history shows that silencing only results in some kind of dictatorship

We do not provide space for slogans of any kind, but we do provide the space to discuss and analyse them. Furthermore, we endorse respect for all views and will not post any comments that are disrespectful to others. For example, if someone wishes to criticize a view, we encourage them to focus on the ideas and refrain from personal and unsubstantiated attacks

In a healthy democracy, pluralism is encouraged and celebrated। Democracy must be practiced at all levels in our social interactions. We disagree with censorship of ideas with the justification that the majority may not agree with it. It is a fundamental principle of democracy, in our view, that dissenting voices not be censored. The current movement is asking for fairness in the election process in order for Iran to walk towards democracy. It is therefore contradictory to democratic principles to silence others. In this blog, we welcome all ideas; whether “right”, “left”,” religious” or “atheist”. Your views are welcome here so long as you respect the right of opposing views with the same standard that you wish your own freedom of expression be
